These Employment Tribunal cases stem from a single unlawful deductions to wages claim brought by Ilkay Cetin against Melanie Mareuge-Lejeune (also known as Melanie Griffiths) and Stephen Derwent Griffiths (also known as Stephen Griffiths and Stephen Derwent Griffiths). Throughout this legal battle, Ilkay Cetin faced immense challenges as an unrepresented litigant, while the employers were represented by a legal team and even by a part-time employment judge who worked as a barrister.
Ilkay Cetin found herself locked into litigation, while the employers’ legal teams were paid by a generous legal cover insurance. Although she won parts of her claim because the facts were too awful to ignore, overall, she lost years and suffered financially and professionally. The legal teams drove the cases to continue and tried to force her to accept being abused.
The judgments are riddled with lies and omissions that portrayed Ilkay Cetin in a negative light while protecting the employers. The laws used are also incorrect, and the judgments contradict themselves. This has been a horrendous journey for Ilkay Cetin, who has faced an uphill battle in her quest for justice against unlawful deductions to wages.
