“Navigating the legal system to bring a claim can be a daunting and troubling process. When I brought a claim in 2018, I encountered numerous challenges: threats of being liable for the other side’s costs, having my claims drastically reduced before a hearing took place, and the employer seeking compensation by arguing I had no right to bring the claim at all.
When I raised objections to unfair treatment, I was met with dismissive attitudes, with their legal representation arguing that I deserved it simply for daring to bring a claim. Continuing to pursue my case often felt like subjecting myself to a prolonged ordeal.
Fortunately, I ultimately prevailed and was able to prove significant misconduct on the part of my employer. But my experience highlights the many barriers claimants can face in seeking justice. Reforms are needed to ensure a fairer and more accessible process for all.”
